STEELSIM2017 was successfully held in Qingdao, China

7th International Conference on Modelling and Simulation of Metallurgical Processes in Steelmaking (STEELSIM2017) was successfully held in Qingdao from August 16th to 18th, 2017. The conference was organized by The Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) and Central Iron and Steel Research Institute (CISRI).

 The STEELSIM Conference is a continuation of the series international conferences which have been held every two years since the first conference in Brno, Czech Republic in 2005, followed by the second in Graz, Austria in 2007, the third in Leoben, Austria in 2009, the forth in Dusseldorf, Germany in 2011, the fifth in Ostrava, Czech Republic in 2013, and the sixth in Bardolino, Italy in 2015. This is the first time that STEELSIM was held in China. 

With more than two years preparation, STEELSIM2017 received 119 abstracts from 20 countries and regions as Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Korea, the United States, China, etc. And after the strict review by the technical committee expert, there were 98 papers included in the conference proceedings. This event attracts more than 200 participants from 22 countries and regions.

 

Prof. Pei ZHAO, the executive vice president of CSM chaired the conference. Prof. Yong GAN, president of CSM, gave the opening speech of the conference. The conference also invited three experts from Sweden, China and Australia at the plenary session to give the comprehensive introductions about the respective progress of modelling and simulation in the steel industry in recent years and  the future development, including Dr. Pär JÖNSSON who is from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Prof. Baicheng LIU who is from Tsinghua University, and Dr. Aibing YU who is from Monash University. Hereby, it is highly appreciated for their great contributions to STEELSIM2017.

In 2019, 8th International Conference on Modelling and Simulation of Metallurgical Processes in Steelmaking will be held in USA.
